The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has refuted the claims made by United States lawmakers regarding the medical care and deteriorating health of Binance Executive, Tigran Gambaryan, who is currently detained in Kuje prison.

In a statement, Idris emphasized that these allegations are false and baseless, asserting that Gambaryan’s detention is lawful under court orders. He further stated that Gambaryan has access to quality medical care whenever necessary and is provided with full consular services from his home government.

The Federal Government of Nigeria remains committed to upholding Gambaryan’s fundamental rights to a fair trial and quality care, including healthcare, while ensuring that due process is followed in the pursuit of justice.

This commitment reflects Nigeria’s dedication to justice and the preservation of its judicial processes.

After their recent visit to the prison, US lawmakers French Hill and Chrissy Houlahan expressed their concerns regarding Gambaryan’s health condition.

They emphasized that Gambaryan is currently battling malaria and double pneumonia, resulting in a significant weight loss. Furthermore, they highlighted their belief that he is not receiving sufficient medical care.

As a result, the lawmakers called for his immediate release, urging for his well-being and proper treatment.
