The FG has promoted 15 Deputy Controllers General (DCGs) across four paramilitary services, recognizing their dedication.

As part of a broader promotional campaign, 79 high-ranking officials – among them Assistant Comptrollers Generals (ACGs) and Comptrollers – were advanced to new positions, with this increase in elevation being included.

During the event, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who serves as Minister of Interior, highlighted that fairness and merit were crucial factors in determining promotions. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) secured seven new DCGs with the highest number while the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), followed closely behind with four. Additionally, three positions went to employees from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), whereas only one individual from Federal Fire Service (FFS) received a promotion.

Minister Tunji-Ojo recognized the previous tardiness in promotions and highlighted that during President Bola Tinubu’s tenure, it had been transformed into a consistent and equitable process. He censured the hindrance faced by certain officers because of structural problems and assured them that nepotism would no longer have any sway over decisions regarding promotions.

The Minister disclosed that the upcoming promotions for 2024 were almost completed and would be put into action before September concludes. He urged all officials to perform exceptionally in their respective positions, emphasizing that merit alone would determine who gets promoted.

In addition, Ja’afaru Ahmed, who serves as the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), expressed contentment with the prompt dissemination of promotions during the gathering. He emphasized that this reflects their management’s dedication to ensuring frequent and timely promotion opportunities for employees.
