FG Explains How to Purchase 50kg Bag of Rice for N40,000

The Federal Government has unveiled its strategy to tackle Nigeria’s persistent food shortage by offering public servants 50kg sacks of rice at a reduced cost of N40,000.
The objective of this initiative is to ease the financial burden for Nigerians impacted by escalating food prices.
A letter from the Director of Human Resources, Jaiyesimi Abimbola at the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs revealed that public servants who want to purchase subsidized rice must fill out a Google form provided on the Office of Head Civil Service Federation (OHCSF) website.
After being filled out, the form must be presented to the Director of Human Resources for final approval.

The procedure of procuring and allocating the rice, administered by assigned authorities, was explicated in the letter. To ensure fairness, oversight throughout the activity will be provided by an observer appointed from among representatives of ministry’s Joint Union Council.
The letter stated that in order to ease the ongoing food crisis and its impact on Nigerian citizens, public servants based in Abuja can purchase 50kg bags of rice at a discounted price of N40,000 per bag.
To ensure a successful execution, each staff member has the privilege to acquire one bag of rice. Yet, multiple personnel may collectively fund for a single bag and divide it amongst themselves. The memo further mandates that department and unit leaders acquaint their teams with particulars pertaining to this program.
The Federal Government has set up centers all across the country where Nigerians can acquire 50kg bags of rice at subsidized rates, in addition to their initiative aimed towards public servants.
As part of a wider plan to enhance the quality of life for its people, Tinubu’s government is executing this initiative. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammed Idris stressed that there are various approaches being adopted to alleviate Nigerians’ financial difficulties.
