The Federal Government has started installing closed-circuit television cameras on railway cars as a result of the suspension of the Abuja-Kaduna rail services.
This occurs shortly after Mu’azu Sambo, the transportation minister, announced the expansion of the train services.
Last week, PUNCH reported that some contractors had attempted to install cameras and trackers at the Idu train station but had been unsuccessful.
Additionally, according to a PUNCH journalist, two of the original three cameras have been repaired.
A PUNCH journalist who went to the Idu train station on Tuesday saw that there were individuals who were likely the contractors setting up the carriages’ cameras.
However, there was still a lot of dry grass in the area around the stations.
They are mounting the DMU on the opposite side, a dependable source within the Idu train station stated. Three additional cameras will be installed on each bus, totalling six. There used to be four cameras on each bus, but now there are only three — two on the sides and one in the middle, according to the source.
When reached, Mahmood Yakubu, a spokeswoman for the Nigerian Railway Corporation, claimed he was unable to comment on the situation.
