FG Disburses ₦25,000 Cash Transfers to 25 Million Nigerians
In a major financial support initiative, the Federal Government confirms that 25 million Nigerians have received ₦25,000 through the conditional cash transfer program. Read more about the aid’s impact.
On Thursday, the Federal Government announced that 25 million Nigerians have received a conditional cash transfer of ₦25,000 each.
Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, revealed this information during a briefing with State House Correspondents following the National Economic Council meeting led by Vice President Kashim Shettima.
He listed the actions taken by President Bola Tinubu’s administration to alleviate the hardships faced by Nigerians due to subsidy removal and other government policy reforms.
He stated that five million households have benefited from the direct transfer.
He also revealed that over the past five days, at least 11,000 beneficiaries have received ₦3.5 billion through the consumer credit scheme.
He also mentioned that over ₦90 billion has been distributed to 500,000 Nigerian students through the student loan program.

Deluge
In the meantime, the government announced that at least 321 Nigerians have died due to the recent flood that devastated many states across the country.
This was revealed at the National Economic Council meeting, which was presided over by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The fatalities were documented in 34 states across the federation.
After the meeting, Anambra State Governor Professor Charles Soludo informed State House correspondents that more than 1.2 million individuals were displaced from their homes due to the flooding, which impacted over one million houses.
Soludo also mentioned that the disasters led to farmlands being washed away.
He mentioned that the NEC also conveyed their sadness about the incident and called for measures to be implemented to ease the suffering of those affected.
