FG denies the alleged resurgence of COVID-19 in Nigeria
According to Professor Ali Pate, the coordinating minister of health and social welfare, there is no scientific evidence to support the reports of a COVID-19 comeback in the nation.
In the presence of his Senior Special Advisor, Emmanuel Oduh, Professor Pate made this revelation at the first public lecture series of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo in Benue State.
“The procedure of diagnosing COVID is scientific in nature. It is not anything about which you can make assumptions and is subjective. Though there may be conjecture, it won’t be COVID if inquiries are finished and it is determined that the case isn’t actually that serious,” he stated on Friday.
He claims that Nigeria has historically fared well in the fight against pandemics.
“First, the Ebola virus appeared. In terms of control, Nigeria was ranked first or very close to it. And we performed admirably in COVID-19 after that. In actuality, we perform among the best in the world despite the state of our health sector, he continued.
A lot is expected of the first medical institution in Nigeria dedicated to training a skilled medical staff in the face of the COVID-19 epidemic, according to the minister who assigned the university this duty.
Professor Innocent Ujah, the vice-chancellor of the institution, added that thirty consultants have been hired to instruct more than three hundred medical professionals.
