Rauf Aregbesola, Nigeria’s interior minister, urged Christians and other citizens to pray for an end to the country’s security issues.

To commemorate this year’s festivities, the Federal Government has proclaimed Good Friday, March 7, 2023, and Easter Monday, March 10, 2023, as public holidays.

Rauf Aregbesola, the interior minister, issued this public holiday on Wednesday in Abuja.

Aregbesola urged Christians to imitate Jesus Christ’s qualities of selflessness, unity, forgiveness, compassion, love, peace, and patience, as demonstrated by His earthly mission, in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Shuaib Begore.

The minister urged Christians and other Nigerians to embrace the occasion of Easter this year to pray for an end to the country’s security issues.

He stated, “Security is everyone’s business. I therefore ask Nigerians and foreigners residing in our country to demonstrate a high sense of citizenship and public spiritedness by supporting the efforts of the security services to promote peace and security of lives and property of the populace.”

The minister reassured the populace that the Federal Government is taking all necessary steps to guarantee a peaceful transfer of power following the peaceful conduct of elections.

He wished Christians at home and in the Diaspora a joyful and peaceful Easter celebration and exhorted them to love their neighbours by performing deeds of kindness and showing generosity of spirit, with the wealthy sharing their possessions with the less fortunate nearby.

Aregbesola reassured Nigerians once more that their country is steadily progressing towards greatness and exhorted everyone to constructively use their creative energies to fully realise the future wealth. There is unquestionably light at the end of the tunnel, he said.
