FG announces official holidays for Christmas and New Year festivities

The declaration of public holidays to celebrate Christmas and New Year has been made by the Federal Government.

The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, conveyed this message on behalf of the government. In his statement, he extended his greetings to Christians and all Nigerians, both at home and abroad. Dr Tunji-Ojo encouraged Christians to follow the example of Jesus Christ by embodying qualities such as humility, service, compassion, patience, peace, and righteousness.

He emphasized the importance of peace and security for the country’s economic development and prosperity.

The Minister assured Nigerians that the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, would continue to implement effective measures to ensure the safety of lives and property.

He also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest security agencies. Dr Tunji-Ojo highlighted the need for discipline during the festive season to safeguard the lives and property of everyone in their communities and the nation as a whole.

He expressed his belief that the year 2024 would bring renewed hope and wished all Nigerians, especially Christians, a joyful Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year celebration.
