Nollywood actor, Femi Adebayo, has expressed concern about the increasing prevalence of film piracy in Nigeria.
In a recent Instagram post, Adebayo shared his personal experience and how he successfully fought against piracy for one of his movies.
He emphasized that the film industry has seen significant growth, but its true potential has not been realized due to the illegal activities of pirates.
Adebayo highlighted the challenges faced by investors in committing funds to filmmakers because of piracy.

However, he believes that through persistence and the utilization of legal frameworks protecting intellectual property, these activities can be gradually halted.
Adebayo himself has been a victim of movie pirates multiple times and has taken legal action against notable media companies that engaged in unauthorized distribution of his work.
After a three-year legal battle, he emerged victorious and was awarded a substantial sum of money.
Adebayo sees this as not just his personal victory, but a win for the entire Nollywood industry. He urges filmmakers to be prepared to fight for their intellectual property rights.
