A female IPOB member is detained by the Nigerian Army in Enugu.
Amaka Onah, a 22-year-old female member of the illegal Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), was detained by the Nigerian Army on Tuesday.
The arrest took place in Nsukka, Enugu’s Igboeze South Local Government Area (LGA).
People say that Onah admitted to killing at least five people, including Igwe Baniko, whose gas station they also set on fire.
She added that the perpetrator of their nefarious acts was a Duri, who is currently at large.
Pictures of the dead victims’ rotting body parts that the Nigerian Tribune saw were too graphic to publish.
Authorities in Nigeria have accused IPOB, which advocates for the secession of southeast Nigeria, where the majority are of Igbo ethnicity, of being a terrorist organisation, despite the group’s repeated denials.
IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu is being held by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja, even though a court has ordered him to be freed. He was arrested in Kenya in June 2021.
