Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Joseph Utsev emphasized the Federal Government’s stance against the production of substandard pipes, fittings, and water products during his visit to Panar Limited in Kano.
He highlighted the importance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s agenda to promote local content production, but also warned of sanctions for those who compromise on the quality of water materials.
As a Professor of Civil and Water Engineering, Utsev pointed out the detrimental effects of using substandard pipes in water schemes, which have led to failures in the past.
Recognizing Panar Ltd.’s contribution to Nigeria’s water infrastructure, he praised the company’s commitment to innovation and adherence to national and international standards in the piping industry.

Utsev commended Panar Ltd.’s advanced production facilities and quality control measures, highlighting their significant role in civil, agricultural, water reticulation, and industrial projects nationwide.
The Minister expressed satisfaction with the company’s employment of many youths and urged State and local government authorities to prioritize the provision of clean water to their communities to reduce health risks.
Additionally, he encouraged States to support irrigation farming as a means to enhance the country’s food security.
