The Nigerian federal government has taken steps to restructure the Nigerian Home Grown School Feeding Programme in collaboration with the Partnership for Child Development (PDC) and Imperial College, London.

However, on January 12, President Bola Tinubu suspended all National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) programs for a period of six weeks.

These programs include the N-Power Programme, the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, and the Home-Grown School Feeding Programme.

The suspension was initiated due to an investigation into alleged mismanagement of the agency and its programs.

Despite this suspension, Yetunde Adeniji, the senior special assistant to the president of the Home Grown School Feeding Programme, emphasized during a stakeholders’ workshop in Abuja that the partnership with international organizations for the school feeding scheme was part of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Action plans.

Adeniji further explained that the workshop aimed to launch the Value for Money Study, which would estimate the cost of the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme and assess its socio-economic and human capital development impact on the country.

The study also aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the school feeding program in improving students’ attendance and academic performance.
