President Tinubu presides over the latest FEC meeting as speculation about a possible cabinet reshuffle grows. Get insights on what this could mean for Nigeria.
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting is currently being presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
There have been increasing rumors of a possible cabinet upheaval leading up to this meeting.
Tinubu has not commented on the prospect of reorganizing his cabinet, despite constant talks from several directions. However, he has said in the past that he would fire any underperforming ministers.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, commended President Tinubu for his dedication to maintaining democracy prior to the start of the meeting, citing the way in which the recent Edo State governorship election was conducted.
Additionally, he expressed his gratitude to the Edo branch leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for ensuring Senator Monday Okpebholo’s win.

Many are closely observing the FEC meeting to see if Tinubu’s ministerial lineup will change at this crucial juncture.
“Mr. Chairman, we would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the people of Edo State, especially the APC family, who have been led by the APC father, on their fantastic outing and their huge victory, which has eluded the APC for over eight years,” he added.
“The President has consistently fought for free and fair elections, which the court has declared to have occurred. We express our gratitude to you, Mr. President, for your unwavering support of democracy and the democratic process.
“We express our gratitude to the APC family members from Edo state once more for this amazing performance.”
Additionally, the SGF formally informed the council of the demise of Mrs. Salome Jankada, a former minister of women’s affairs and youth development.
Mrs. Salome Jankada served as the previous President Olusegun Obasanjo’s Minister of Women’s Affairs and Youth Development.
Following that, the council conducted a minute of silence in memory of the late council member who passed away on August 27 of this year.
The National Security Advisor, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, are among those present at the meeting.
The majority of the ministers were present as well.
