The establishment of a Trust Fund for Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation has received approval from the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
This was disclosed by Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, in a briefing to State House reporters on Monday, just after the FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa Abuja.
The federal government will be able to quickly respond to humanitarian emergencies in the nation, according to her, thanks to the trust fund.

She claims that the Federal Government wants to contribute at least $5 billion a year to the trust fund.
According to Edu, the money will come from the Federal Government, commercial groups, foreign governments, and well-intentioned people.
Additionally, she reaffirmed that state governments will be included in the project.
Regarding the care of the elderly, the minister stated that FEC decided to ratify the protocol for the country’s protection of senior people’s rights in accordance with the African Charter.
