30-kilometer highways would be built throughout the six Area Councils of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), according to Mr. Nyesom Wike, Minister of the FCT.

Wike, who made this statement on Wednesday when Sen. Philip Aduda and Mr. Zakari Dobi paid him a visit in his Abuja office.

Aduda served as FCT’s previous senator in the Senate during the People’s Democratic Party’s 9th Assembly.

He and Dobi, who ran for the seat again as members of the All Progressives Congress but fell short of Sen. Ireti Kingibe of the Labour Party, lost.

The 30-kilometer roads, five in each of the six regional councils, will be finished by May 29, 2024, according to the ministry.

He claims that this will decentralise development initiatives from urban centres to rural areas across area councils.

“Before May 29, President Bola Tinubu had ordered that at least five kilometres of roads be built in each of the six local councils.

He explained that this was a part of his renewed hope agenda to make sure that those living in rural areas weren’t excluded from the administration’s development initiatives.

Despite their differences in political party, Wike praised the tourists for working together as a team to advance the FCT.

By taking away every bottle from the carrier progression, the minister highlighted that the creation of the Civil Service Commission for FCT was a component of the renewed hope agenda.

In order to promote growth in the nation’s capital, he continued, FCT was also taken out of the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

The aim, according to Wike, is to restore citizens of the FCT’s lost faith.

Aduda had earlier stated that the purpose of the visit was to congratulate Wike on his selection as the Minister of the FCT and to recognise the excellent work he was doing.

In addition, he said, they were there to express their gratitude to Tinubu for choosing a native son as a minister and to promise their entire support for the growth of the FCT in everyone’s best interests.

The creation of the FCT Civil Service Commission, the removal of the FCT from the TSA, and the creation of the Women Affairs Secretariat to address women’s issues were all daring moves, Aduda stated. (NAN)
