The Federal Capital Territory’s Minister, Nyesom Wike, has explained why he suggested naming a road after Wole Soyinka as it was being put into service.
According to Obasanjonews.com, the Full Scope Development of the Arterial Road N20 from Northern Parkway to the Outer Northern Motorway within the Federal Capital City was the project that President Bola Tinubu ordered on Tuesday.
Wole Soyinka Way was its name.
Wike revealed that the FCT’s citizens have experienced relief since the road project’s completion, which came at a cost of N30.6 billion. The contract for the route’s construction was given in 2020.
“It is important to honour individuals who have made significant contributions to progress and development during their lifetime, thus setting an example for others,” he said in reference to the idea to dedicate the route to Prof. Wole Soyinka.

The contractor was also commended by the Minister for making sure the road project was finished on schedule.
The FCT’s Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu, the National Assembly’s leadership, and Federal Executive Council members for their support of the FCT Administration in her remarks.
The Minister of State also expressed gratitude to other parties involved, such as the construction crew and FCDA engineers, who provided their knowledge and skills to make the Arterial Road N20 a reality.
Everyone in the capital city benefits, she claimed, from the safer, more effective, and more sustainable transport network made possible by the FCT’s arterial construction.
