Abuja, Nov. 5, 2023 (NAN): A number of entrepreneurs and citizens of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have expressed dissatisfaction with the territory’s intermittent electricity supply.

The locals urged the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) to enhance its services, claiming that it was falling short of their expectations.

Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Sunday, the electricity users bemoaned the inadequate quality of power provided to their residences and places of business.

They claim that in contrast to the previous few months, the power supply has decreased recently.

Fashion designer Mrs. Uche Amos of the Area 2, Garki shopping complex stated that she had been unable to satisfy her customers’ expectations for weeks due to the extreme circumstances.

We have been without power for over three days at this point. Because of the rise in the cost of the goods, I am forced to rely on generators, and the cost of fuel to run them is high.

“It hasn’t been easy at all for me because my clients are really complaining, which is bad for business. She remarked, “I am pleading with the AEDC to act immediately to address the power situation.”

Barber Mr. Abubarkar Audu of Area 1 in Garki stated that things were becoming worse because they had been without power for about two days.

Audu stated that he was forced to utilise generators in order to run his business and that he had raised the price of barbecuing a customer as a result of the high cost of fuel.

He claims that the rise has resulted in lower patronage.

Speaking next was Mr. Joseph Akin, a Kubwa resident and welder, who mentioned that his neighbourhood did not have very consistent electricity.

“We only get light for five to six hours a day, and sometimes not even then,” he remarked.

“I am pleading with AEDC to enhance the local power supply so that I can operate my business efficiently,” he declared.

A civil servant named Mrs. Ese Williams, who also lives in Kubwa, Abuja, claimed that her neighborhood’s electrical supply was inconsistent.

According to Williams, AEDC ought to make every effort to enhance the power supply, particularly because customers are the ones who pay for the services.

AEDC takes and brings light more than ten times a day, according to Mrs. Josphine Aivba, a banker who lives in Lugbe. She described it as though they were playing with light.

She remarked, “My appeal is that they should improve on electricity; I don’t even understand what is happening.”

Speaking as well, Mr. Andrew Coker, the owner of a wash business in Lugbe, claimed that the area’s lighting was much worse now than it had been.

According to Coker, the neighbourhood experiences power outages for up to four hours each day, and there are light outages every ten minutes.

“Why AEDC turns out the light once every ten minutes is beyond me. He replied, “I’m pleading with them to enhance their offerings.

NAN recalls that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) was performing maintenance on its 132/33kV KUKWABA T/S, and that AEDC had notified customers of this in a recent notification.

Customers at Games Village, Kabusa Gardens, Galadimawa Village, Human Right Radio, Sunny Vale, Suncity, Voice of Nigeria, Aco, Penthouse Estate, Panalpina World Trans Ltd, Aleita Community, Sabon Lugbe, Pyakasa, and Chika were impacted by the exercise, according to the firm.

Lugbe spanning zones 1–9, Trademore, National Stadium, Eye Clinic, House on the Rock, Indoor Complex, Family Worship Centre, Bromax Estate, Wuye, and Utako are among the other locations impacted by the maintenance.
