SP Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, disclosed the information in a press release published on X.com on Sunday.
According to the announcement, the collaborative effort involved the FCT Police, Guards Brigade special forces, DSS hunters, and other security personnel.
Acting on reliable intelligence, they launched an assault on identified hideouts at Gidan Dogo and Kweti Forest, Kaduna State, near the FCT borders, on June 7, 2024, at approximately 10 am. The operation culminated in the apprehension of four suspects: Yahaya Abubakar, 25, from Mpape; Mohammed Mohamed, 32, a former convict from Zuba; Umar Aliyu, 20; and Nura Abdullahi, 32, another ex-convict from Kubwa and Zuba hills.
The individuals confessed to being associated with the infamous “Mai One Million” gang, which is linked to various abductions and serious offenses in and around the FCT. A shootout reportedly ensued during the operation, prompting the bandits to escape.
Additionally, the security forces rescued kidnapped victims, who have since been reunited with their families. The law enforcement officers dismantled the temporary structures utilized by the kidnappers in all the targeted locations.
FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Benneth Igweh, commended the operation’s success and encouraged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior. This operation comes after a previous raid in March, where the FCT police raided a kidnapper’s hideout in Jibi Forest and apprehended one suspect, as detailed by OBASANJONEWS.
