FCT Police Arrest Bandits Plotting Attacks on Government Institutions and More

FCT police have arrested a group of notorious bandits accused of plotting attacks on government institutions and other locations. Read more about the police operation.

operatives of the National Capital Territory Police Command have arrested four criminal elements who have been terrorising the area.

A statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Ade, on Thursday, said the suspects are notorious kidnappers responsible for several murders and kidnappings in the capital.

The statement said the suspected robbers “confessed to plans to attack some government installations and properties in the capital area”.

Josephine Ade identified the criminals as Yaw Sani alias Baba (an ex-convict), Nuhu alias Giwa, Kabiru Mohammed and Yusuf Hassan.

She said they were arrested at a criminal hideout in Sauka, Abuja, and “were residing among the general population”.

The suspects also confessed to being involved in the murder of seven kidnapping victims in the area.

“These gangs attacked Dakwa, Dawaki, Ako Estate, Dupu Village, Zuma Rock, Kutiko Village and several villages in Niger and Kaduna,” she said.

“They also led the police to another hideout in Gauraka forest in Suleja, Niger State where they recovered four AK-47 rifles, 13 AK-47 magazines, 162 rounds of live ammunition and seven 6mm rounds of ammunition,” the statement continued.
