FCT Government Stands Firm: No Mayhem Allowed – Wike
FCT Government, led by Wike, declares zero tolerance for mayhem during protests. Learn about the measures in place.
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory has cautioned that the government will not remain idle while individuals wreck havoc.
Ahead of the scheduled nationwide protest on August 1, 2024, Wike made this statement.
During his inspection of the Yebu Kwaita Road which spans 25 kilometres and the Yangoji-Sukuku Ebo Road that stretches for 11 kilometres, both located in the Kwali Area Council of FCT, he issued a warning.
During the inspection visit, Wike addressed reporters and expressed contentment with both the speed and caliber of work on the road projects. He reassured that they will be finished by December this year.
Wike reiterated that his regular inspections of project sites in the FCT were aimed at demonstrating to Nigerians that progress was being made, and he emphasized that there was no justification for protests within the territory.
He declared that the government recognizes the difficulties faced by the nation and praised FCT citizens for choosing to forego intended demonstrations in favor of open communication.
“Why are you encouraging residents to protest if the FCT is effective?” he questioned. “Although we understand their hunger, rather than allowing hooligans to harm innocent Nigerians, it would be best for us to have a conversation about it.”
No government that thinks correctly will remain idle and tolerate individuals causing chaos, damaging property, only to start over from the beginning.
Expanding on the influence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the FCT, it is important to note that its benefits extend beyond urban areas. As evidenced by our current location 25 kilometres away from the city, local residents are experiencing increased satisfaction and joy thanks to this initiative. This exemplifies renewed hope at work and reinforces why we encourage citizens to remain patient with their government’s efforts towards progress.
The government is making efforts to decrease hunger levels and simultaneously enhancing the economy of our nation by providing fundamental infrastructure.
