Former governor of Ekiti State Peter Ayodele Fayose has demanded the resignation of Iyorchia Ayu, the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), for failing to advance the party.

This was said by Fayose shortly after he congratulated Bola Tinubu, the president-elect of Nigeria, on his victory.

Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, announced Tinubu of the APC as the winner of the 2023 presidential election on Wednesday morning.

Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Peter Obi of the Labour Party were defeated by Tinubu, who won last Saturday’s presidential election.

“As for the PDP National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, I call for his immediate resignation for his inability to move the party forward,” Fayose wrote in a tweet on Wednesday via his Twitter account.

I congratulate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on his election as the next President of Nigeria, Fayosed had earlier tweeted. I implore the remaining candidates, especially Atiku Abubakar, to accept the result in the best interests of our nation as a whole. Another day will always come.
