Farmers vs herders: Crisis in Ogun and Oyo must be addressed immediately- Igboho informs DSS and Army
The Department of State Services, DSS, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, and the Nigerian Army were encouraged to look into the most recent farmer killings in the states of Oyo and Ogun by Yoruba nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Igboho.
Igboho urged the security organisations to make sure that those responsible for the deaths are found and prosecuted.
Farmers have been murdered in the Oke Ogun axis of Oyo and other towns in the Iwere-Ile community of the Iwajowa Local Government Area by assailants thought to be herders.
Ighoho responded to the development by stating that security agencies need to deal with the clashes between some renegade herders and farmers in various parts of Ogun immediately.

He personally signed a statement that contained the following passages: “We are asking on the Police, the Department of State Security (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Nigerian Army to address the delicate security breaches now before the situation gets out of hand.
“We are saddened that the deaths of our farmers, who were simply trying to make a life, have started to reappear. Given the country’s current difficulty, this worrying development warrants serious thought.
“The recent ambush and killing of Amotekun Security Corps personnel, including other security agents, who were attempting to bring the Iwere-Ile community back to normal after the suspected herdsmen had murdered our kin in Iwere-Ile, must be looked into, and those responsible must be held accountable.
While we applaud Engineer Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, and Prince Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun, for their efforts to promote peace and positive change in their respective states, we challenge the leaders of the security services to take action right away before things get worse.
