According to reports, some farmers have reportedly left their houses in the villages of Niger State’s Wushishi and Lavun local governments because of bandit activity there.
On Friday night, when bandits are said to have poured into the communities in huge numbers, the people are said to have been invaded and forced to flee.
Residents reportedly left their homes in the pouring rain to flee the terrorist attack.
After the locals fled to Wushishi town and the historic town of Zungeru on Friday, sources claim the bandits spent the night in the Wushishi local government area’s Akare and Cheji.
The Niger State Vigilante Corps Chairman in the Wushishi local government area, Ibrahim Iko-Iko, stated, “The bandits have been in this region since Friday, and they are still there. They have relocated near Lavun LGA. With the livestock they rustled, some of them stayed the night in the village of the Cheji. But since everyone had left their homes, neither a life nor a kid was lost.
He continued by saying that some of the fleeing farmers are currently living in squats with their relatives, while others have set up camp in Kwata Primary School.
The Niger State Police Command has not made any comments about the event.
