Femi Fani-Kayode, a former minister of aviation, said he is not shocked by the military takeover in Gabon.
The announcement by Fani-Kayode comes just after the country of Central Africa underwent a coup.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24 B, army leaders in Gabon have indicated the country’s military will take over after President Ali Bongo was re-elected for a third term on Saturday.
The statement was made on Tuesday by the highest army leaders.
According to reports, the officers declared that they were nullifying the results of the election on Saturday, which the opposition had deemed “fraudulent” and rejected.
However, Fani-Kayode warned that additional coups should be expected in the Francophone nations of West and Central Africa in a post on his social media network X, formerly known as Twitter.
“Unfortunately, another coup has occurred in Africa,” he added. This time, President Ali Bongo (seen below) of Gabon has lost his position of authority.
“It seems that my ominous warning in my previous piece, “Does Killing Nigerien Babies Bring Glory To Our Name?,” came true.
“I am not shocked that this has occurred, and in all honesty, given the arguments I made in that essay, we should prepare for additional coups in the Francophone nations of West and Central Africa.
“I wonder if the African Union or ECOWAS will also threaten to invade Gabon?”
