Ms. Namitra Bwala’s family, whose daughter is a student at Lead British International School in Gwarinpa, Abuja, has taken legal action against the school.
This decision comes after a video went viral on the internet a few weeks ago, showing Ms. Bwala being bullied by her fellow students. In their civil suit, the family is seeking N500 million in damages and a public apology published in two national newspapers.
They argue that the school failed in its duty to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for their daughter.
The lawsuit, filed at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja, alleges that the school neglected to prevent the assault, failed to inform the parents immediately, and only initiated an investigation after the video gained widespread attention on social media.
The family believes that this legal action will lead to significant changes and the implementation of necessary measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
