Mr. P, a well-known alias for Nigerian singer and internet sensation Peter Okoye, has threatened legal action against Access and Polaris banks.
Okoye shouted out last year about how online con artists were using his name to defraud people online.
According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the musician has been using his name to conduct a lottery system, and online scammers have also been using the same name to defraud others.
Okoye vented his outrage on his Instagram page and his official X account on Wednesday, asking why banks would permit someone to register an account in his name without verification.
The musician called out many banks and shared images of them while threatening to sue them for damages.
He wrote on Twitter, “Enough is enough. Either an inside job, or something else. I need to save some of these helpless individuals and keep my name private. So get ready for my legal team and I.
“How can @polarisbankltd and @myaccessbank allow someone to open an account in the name of “PETER OKOYE PSQUARE” without a valid form of identity, BVN, biometrics, a verified address, or even a utility bill that matches the account owner’s address? My name is currently being used to con innocent bystanders. Take notice @officialefcc, I’m suing this bank for damages.
