In response to purported threats of death directed towards the late singer Mohbad’s wife and children, human rights attorney Femi Falana has filed a petition with the Lagos State Police Command.

According to Obasanjo News24, Mohbad, a former Marlian Record label signee, passed away in a contentious way on September 12, 2023, at the age of 27. The day after, he was buried.

The police dug up Mohbad’s remains on September 21 in order to perform an autopsy.

Public dissemination of the autopsy’s findings is still pending.

In contrast, Falana & Falana Chambers claimed in a letter dated December 28 that some social media users are threatening the singer’s wife Omowunmi and his kid Liam. The letter was written to Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke.

The letter said, in part, “Request for the intervention of the Lagos State Commissioner’s office regarding the threat to lives, cyberbullying, criminal defamation of Liam and Cynthia Aloba’s reputations, and actions likely to cause a breach of public peace.”

“Since his body was exhumed and the autopsy was finished, his remains have been placed at the mortuary.

“At the coroner’s court, an inquest is still in progress to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.

“As his spouse, Mrs. Cynthia Wunmi Aloba, grieves for her deceased spouse, she has been subjected to death threats from individuals who go by anonymous numbers and from users on Facebook, Instagram, and Tiktok, among other platforms.”
