Fake EFCC official caught in Kwara for defrauding N500,000
Akogun Rasheed Usman, who has been identified as an imposter, was apprehended by the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Usman had been deceiving individuals by pretending to be an officer of the EFCC and offering assistance in resolving their cases with the anti-graft agency.
However, his fraudulent activities came to light when the Ilorin Command received intelligence about his actions.
Usman, a resident of Babanla in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, had obtained N500,000 from Mrs. Khadizah Abdullahi, a parent of two suspects detained by the EFCC for internet fraud offenses.

Mrs. Abdullahi became suspicious when Usman failed to secure the release of her sons as promised. She noticed that he did not follow the usual protocols and did not receive or give salutes to fellow officers during their visit to the EFCC office.
Instead, Usman took her to a different location to collect the money and demanded additional funds for the bail. It was during this transaction that he was apprehended.
The EFCC has stated that Usman will face charges in court once the investigations are concluded.
