The President presided over the first FEC meeting, which was attended by his recently appointed ministers.
President Bola Tinubu has tasked his cabinet with hard work and dedication in order to build a thriving economy that will benefit every Nigerian.
This was mentioned by the President on Monday during his welcome remarks at the State House’s first-ever Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
Ministers and other FEC members were admonished by Tinubu to put in a lot of effort because of the high standards of performance held by Nigerians.
The President also reiterated the policies of his administration, which include strengthening national security for peace and prosperity and restructuring the economy to provide inclusive and sustainable growth.
According to Tinubu, failure would not be excused under his leadership and the country would rely on the experience, competence, intellect, and networking of those who had been nominated to advance during the difficult times.
“We both understand that times are difficult and that expectations are high. To build a thriving economy that will benefit Nigeria, we must work hard and go forward. In addition to confronting dangers from climate change, our employment rate is unacceptable.
You have been chosen to give your very best effort in order to turn things around. Implementing our policies will transform the economy, guarantee inclusive growth, and bolster security for stability and prosperity. Investment is impossible without security, the President declared.
At the first FEC meeting, the recently appointed ministers were present.
After being vetted and approved by the Senate, 45 ministers were sworn in by the President on August 21, 2023.
“We shall evolve a homegrown re-engineering of our finances, a reimagined stewardship of our resources, and we will let the economy work for the people of this country,” the president told his cabinet.
“We can and will accomplish a lot of things. Yes, cynics will assert that it is not conceivable. However, under your own definition of service, everything is both conceivable and necessary.
The President expressed confidence that his carefully chosen cabinet members understand that his government is a new one with a new attitude and a new mandate to deliver for Nigeria without any lamentations or excuses, according to a statement by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale.
“We are talented. We possess the amount of intelligence necessary to rebuild our nation. For the benefit of the more than 200 million Nigerians who depend on us, we will ensure that the nation is on the correct track to success.
“You now have it in your hands. I’m prepared to participate and listen. Even correction is welcome; I’m ready. God alone is flawless. You’ve been ordered to fill a dry well with water. Although there are many obstacles, we will succeed for Nigerians. Being in charge of this car makes me joyful.
You have made a significant commitment to the nation. Since your ordination as a minister, you have evolved into a servant of the people, providing for all people constantly, the President said.
