In response to a defamation and cyberstalking petition filed by gospel artist Nathaniel Bassey against four Facebook users, one of them, Kingsley Ibe, has issued an apology to both Bassey and fellow gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.

Ibe has also voluntarily surrendered himself to the police. The allegations made by Ibe and the three other social media users, Okoronkwo Ejike, Terrence Ekot, and Dj Spoiltkid, claimed that Bassey fathered the child of another popular gospel singer, which quickly spread on social media.

Bassey’s legal representatives released a press statement on Monday, stating that the police have taken Ibe’s statement and gathered substantial evidence for the prosecution of criminal defamation and cyber-related offenses.

The statement also mentioned that Ibe has expressed remorse for his actions and is determined to make amends. Bassey has chosen to extend forgiveness and support to Ibe, as his family members have also apologized on his behalf.
