Facebook deletes Rarara’s account, which had over 1 million followers, after a pro-Tinubu song sparks controversy. Learn more about the incident.
The Facebook account of Dauda Adamu, a celebrated Hausa musician popularly known as Rarara and boasting more than 1 million followers, has been deleted.
According to reports, the account was removed on Saturday and became inaccessible by Sunday.
After numerous complaints from Nigerians over Rarara’s latest track lauding President Bola Tinubu despite prevalent economic challenges, which include skyrocketing food costs, this removal comes as part of a broader pattern.
According to his song, Rarara asserted that Tinubu is responsible for Nigeria’s greatness and Northern region bids adieu to hunger, insecurity, and poverty.

His account being removed aligns with the scheduled countrywide demonstrations aimed at highlighting the present economic struggles in Nigeria.
Further intensifying the already tense situation, Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu- Rarara’s mother- was abducted by bandits from Kahutu village situated in Danja local government area of Katsina State. According to a reliable source who is intimately familiar with the family affairs, she managed to secure her freedom only after suffering through 20 days as their captive.
Users on social media platform X are demanding the reporting and removal of all Rarara’s accounts. @Waspapping_ encouraged Arewa Twitter users to unite tomorrow and report Rarara’s Twitter account for ridiculing people in poverty, highlighting that there must be consequences for such behavior.
The same opinion was shared by other users who stressed the importance of opposing what they perceive as disloyal conduct. Kawu Garba, a Facebook user with more than 75k followers, urged people to flood Rarara’s phone number with calls in order to disrupt his communication.
Since the era of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Rarara has played a notable role in Nigeria’s political sphere. His musical contributions endorsing Buhari and All Progressives Congress (APC) led to his appointment as the National Director of Music for the Presidential Support Committee advocating for Buhari’s 2019 re-election bid.
Although Buhari’s leadership of national affairs, specifically regarding security and the economy, caused disillusionment among many Nigerians, Rarara remained steadfast in his support. Despite facing criticism for this loyalty to Buhari, he encouraged individuals to donate N1000 each towards a new song that aimed to defend Buhari’s popularity.
However, there was an unexpected twist as Rarara denounced Buhari’s leadership after leaving office. He lamented his previous endorsement and asserted that the governing body had not fulfilled its pledged reforms. Furthermore, he even suggested that Tinubu accomplished more in his first 100 days than Buhari did during eight years of presidency.
Despite not having received an official position from Tinubu’s administration, Rarara’s music unmistakably demonstrates unwavering support for the current president.
