Ezekwesili to NASS: Why Nigeria’s Democracy Belongs to Every Citize
Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili cautioned on Saturday that Nigeria’s democracy is not exclusive to politicians.
Ezekwesili criticized the Senate and House of Representatives for exacerbating the suffering of Nigerians, emphasizing that “water will completely surpass garri”.
She made these remarks in a series of posts on her social media page.
Ezekwesili stated: “This Democracy belongs to the Nigerian People and not to an insignificant percentage of our population known as Politicians.
“Soon enough, the People will look down on all of you who believe that Nigeria exists to provide you with a lavish lifestyle at the expense of the country.
“The lack of awareness towards the pain and anger in this Land is not sustainable. That’s for sure.
“It seems like the recent pastime of the @nassnigeria and the @NGRPresident and @NigeriaGov is to continuously provoke struggling citizens who are barely surviving in this crisis-ridden economy.
“During a time of scarcity and hardship when public officials should demonstrate fiscal responsibility, the sensitivities of our citizens are constantly offended by the extravagant lifestyles of politicians- many of whom were not legitimately elected into office.
“How much longer can you individuals @NGRSenate and @HouseNGR maintain this level of insensitivity?
“As they say in my community, “use your tongue to count your teeth” because a Day will soon arrive when at the rate you’re all going with public resources, “water will completely surpass garri”.
