Ondo State’s commercial town of Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area, was rocked by tragedy on Sunday evening when a tanker explosion killed many lives in the community.
When the incident occurred, residents of the region had congregated at the scene of a crash to scoop petrol from a tanker, according to Obasanjonews24.
According to witnesses, the fuel that had spilled onto the road was ignited by a spark from a mobile phone held by one of the men involved in the fuel scooping.
The accident happened near a gas station on Showboy Road.
According to John, an okada rider in the area who provided terrible details of the catastrophe, the flames took the lives of more than 15 people.
According to him, among the victims who were burnt to death were three children and a pregnant mother.
“After the truck crashed, people began to rush to the scene to scoop fuel.” The truck detonated during this time.
“Three children died, and we have found over 15 bodies.” “A pregnant woman who wanted to buy fuel also died,” he said.
The state police spokeswoman, Fumilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, confirmed the event and identified the victims as fuel scoopers.
