Femi Adesina, a former Special Adviser to former President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, has emphasized that his principal is not a bigot. In his book titled ‘Working with Buhari: Reflections of A Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity (2015-2023)’, Adesina recounts an incident where Buhari called upon the name of Jesus when his Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, survived a helicopter crash. Buhari’s response to the incident was, “Jesus was not far away, he saved you.”

Adesina further highlights Buhari’s inclusive nature, stating that since 2015, the President has granted time off to all Christians working with him during Easter and Christmas.

Adesina concludes by expressing his appreciation for this kind of “bigotry” that Buhari exhibits. Additionally, he mentions another instance where Buhari willingly met with the leadership of the Foursquare Gospel Church on their 60th anniversary in Nigeria, further dispelling the notion of him being a bigot.

Laughter filled the room, yet an important lesson was learned. It became evident that individuals with narrow-minded views hold a disdain for Jesus. They refuse to acknowledge His name or acknowledge any extraordinary acts attributed to Him.
