According to Johnson, Nigeria can generate both oil and gas and be a superpower in the field of renewable energy.
Boris Johnson, a former prime minister of the United Kingdom, has argued for improved ties between Nigeria and the UK.
That, according to him, would further unlock the potential of both nations.
The 16th Osigwe Anyiam-Osigwe lecture series, with the topic “Rehumanizing Human Experience,” featured a speech by the former prime minister on Monday in Lagos.
“The moment has come. “Now is the moment for the UK and Nigeria, two great democracies to work together,” Johnson, who is still a serving member of the British parliament, said in his keynote address. “The globe is so uncertain, and some nations are disentangling.
Nigeria can both generate oil and gas and be a giant in the field of renewable energy. We could work together more frequently.
He suggests that more partnerships be made in the fields of free commerce, free expression, and free elections.
In addition to promoting deeper relations between Nigeria and the UK, he called for nations to invest in education so that their populations can reach their full potential.
He said that “urban triumphs are founded on freedom under the law” and that “you need an open, tolerant society to unleash human potentials.”
