Former House of Representatives member Tajudeen Yusuf has dismissed the possibility of an alliance between Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar.

Speculation about a potential alliance between Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 election, and Atiku, his counterpart from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), gained traction after the two met recently.

However, Tajudeen believes that they will not work together in the upcoming 2027 elections. He cited Atiku’s comments after the meeting and other obstacles as reasons why an alliance between the two would be challenging.

Tajudeen also suggested that both men may run independently in 2027, making a merger unlikely. Additionally, a spokesperson for the Obi-Datti campaign council, Yunusa Tanko, emphasized that Obi is only interested in a merger that will benefit the country and lift Nigerians out of poverty.
