Goodluck Jonathan, the former president of Nigeria, lost his older sister to the merciless grasp of death.
Following a brief illness, Madam Obebhatein Jonathan passed away at the age of 70 on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The late Amissi was a former teacher, businesswoman, devoted mother, and grandmother who spent her life to serving God and humanity, according to a statement released by Jonathan’s media office.
She was a good woman, a devoted Christian, and an inspiration to many both inside and outside of her community.
The message also stated that the burial has been planned for Tuesday, February 16, 2024, and emphasised that the family will make an announcement regarding the specifics of the funeral ceremonies.
Three children, including His Excellency Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and her mother Mama Eunice Afeni-Jonathan, survive Madam Obebhatein Jonathan.
