Ex-President Jonathan emphasizes need for Fubara and Wike to collaborate for benefit of Rivers people

Former Nigerian President, Goodluck Jonathan, highlighted the importance of collaboration between Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara and his predecessor, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for the benefit of the state’s people.

Speaking as the special guest of honour at an event organized by the Rivers State Government, Jonathan expressed his concerns regarding the challenges associated with power transitions in the country.

He acknowledged that while issues often arise during transitions at the national level, they are generally better managed.

However, he emphasized that transitioning power from one governor to another has become a challenge.

Using the political crisis in Rivers State as an example, Jonathan urged both the incumbent and immediate past governor to work together for the welfare of the state’s citizens.

He stressed the necessity for cooperation between Nyesom Wike and Governor Sim Fubara, highlighting the negative impact of tension in such a crucial region like the heart of the Niger Delta.

Jonathan pleaded for a reduction in political tension, emphasizing the need for outgoing and incoming governors to collaborate for the collective interest of the state’s citizens.

Former President Jonathan emphasized the importance of stability in Rivers State, highlighting the potential ripple effect it could have on the entire Niger Delta region.

He stressed the need for leaders to embrace the principle of compromise and collaboration, emphasizing the significance of working together for the benefit of the people of Rivers State.

He also praised the inauguration of the Trans-Kalabari Road, recognizing its potential to boost economic growth in the state.

Jonathan pointed out the positive impact the road construction would have on security measures and safety, particularly in riverine areas, by providing better infrastructure and reducing accidents.

Commending Governor Fubara for his initiative in starting the road project, Jonathan lauded his vision and dedication to the development of the region.

He encouraged the people of Rivers State to rally behind the governor, acknowledging his commitment and focus on elevating the state to new heights.

Jonathan called for unity and cooperation to support the governor’s efforts in moving Rivers State forward.
