Ex-Power Minister Sale Mamman gets arrested for N22 billion fraud
In connection with an alleged N22 billion fraud, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, has detained Sale Mamman, a former minister of power.
Mamman, who served as the minister of electricity from 2019 to 2021, was detained at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday morning after being taken into custody.
According to reports, his arrest is related to investigations into corruption in the administration of various power plants.
In order to divert N22 billion and divide it among themselves, the minister is charged with working with ministry employees in charge of the finances for the Zungeru and Mambilla Hydro Electric Power projects.
The investigations are alleged to have turned up assets in Nigeria and abroad connected to the accused, and it is also claimed that millions of dollars and naira have been recovered.
