The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Plateau South senatorial district, Simon Lalong, was deemed the validly elected candidate by the National Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal, which is based in Jos, Plateau State.
Justice Mahmoud Tukur, the panel’s chairman, ruled that Napoleon Bali of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wasted his votes in the election of February 25 because he was improperly nominated.
According to the unanimous Monday ruling, the PDP did not have a legitimate organisation in the state at the time of the nomination.
The panel determined that the petitioners could not support their claims on the other grounds of excessive voting and non-compliance with the electoral regulations.
Similar to this, Dalyop Chollom of the Labour Party (LP) defeated PDP candidate for the Barkin-Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency.
The tribunal determined that because the PDP lacked a legitimate structure in the state at the time of Peter Gyenden’s candidature, his nomination was invalid.
