Ex-Minister Alleges Tinubu’s Cabal Outpaces Buhari’s in Sophistication

A former Nigerian minister alleges that President Tinubu’s political cabal is more advanced and strategic than ex-President Buhari’s.

Solomon Dalung, the former Minister of Youth and Sports, has voiced concerns regarding the powerbrokers surrounding President Bola Tinubu. He characterized them as more sophisticated and dangerous than those who were around former President Muhammadu Buhari.

During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Dalung contended that whereas Buhari’s inner circle was composed of less educated members, the influencers surrounding Tinubu are well-educated, ambitious, and have a profound grasp of power dynamics.

Dalung, who was part of Buhari’s administration, characterized the former president as a “stranger” within his own government, indicating that influential cabal members overshadowed his leadership.

He cautioned that the group around Tinubu might influence power, manage access to the president, and limit information flow.

Dalung acknowledged that President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration indeed had cabals, which he has personally recognized. However, he described these individuals as lacking significant knowledge and experience in politics, public administration, and governance. As a result, their actions were primarily driven by narrow perspectives on power dynamics and personal gain from the public funds.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inner circle consists of a sophisticated and ambitious group with a long history in power. They are experienced, well-educated, and possess a solid understanding of what wielding power entails.

Given their ambitious nature, the presidency is likely to face even greater challenges than it did under President Muhammadu Buhari. This group has a strong ability to manipulate power and create security barriers around the president, which can restrict information flow by allowing only what they want him to know. Moreover, they have significant control over who gains access to the president.

These cabals are experts, making them more dangerous than any other in the history of this country.

According to Platinumpost, Tinubu declared his independence from any cabals or influential moneybags in July 2024. He took office in May 2023 following a fiercely contested election.
