Ex-Labour Party Chieftain Defects to APC in Anambra

A former Labour Party chieftain in Anambra has officially joined the APC, signaling a shift in the state’s political landscape ahead of future elections.
Valentine Ozigbo, a well-known politician from Anambra and former governorship candidate, has officially become a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), just under 24 hours after leaving the Labour Party (LP).
On Thursday, February 20, 2025, Ozigbo and Nze Afam Okpalauzuegbu, the former LP secretary, officially joined the APC at their ward in Amesi, Anambra State.
This political maneuver has ignited discussions within Anambra’s political scene, as Ozigbo’s influence and grassroots backing could transform the dynamics leading up to future elections.
Speaking to his supporters, Ozigbo conveyed optimism about the APC’s vision. He stated that his decision was motivated by a wish to join a platform committed to progress and development for the people of Anambra.
Ozigbo, formerly the Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria, ran in the 2021 Anambra governorship election representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, he was defeated by Chukwuma Soludo from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
The APC has embraced Ozigbo and Okpalauzuegbu as new members, expressing confidence that their addition will positively influence the party’s chances in the Anambra governorship election set for November 2025.
