200 years won’t be enough to address the issues in the nation’s capital, according to Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.

The minister pointed out that since administration is a continuity, someone else would pick up where he leaves off and carry on.

He gave a speech at the Ministerial Sectoral Updates in Abuja as part of the celebration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s first year in office.

The Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike; Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Ibrahim Bio; Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu; Minister of State for FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmud; Minister of State for Petroleum, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri; and Minister of State for Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, are present at the first session of the Sectoral Briefing.

“I cannot fix the entire issue, even if I serve as the FCT minister for 200 years. To the best of your ability, you will add what you know, and when someone else steps in, they pick up where you left off.

Government is, after all, a continuum. Because of all these projects scattered all over the place, Mr. President informed me, “You cannot go and start new projects.” Wike stated, “We had to concentrate on completing the unfinished projects.”
