Investment in the nation’s health sector is still “critical,” according to Mr. Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections.
During a solidarity visit to Holy Rosary College of Nursing in Emekuku, close to Owerri, on Saturday, Obi made this statement.
Given that Nigerians have a 55-year average life expectancy, he claimed that the country needs comprehensive investments in the health sector, particularly in the form of preparing the next generation of health system managers through education and training.
He defined this kind of investment as a national service rather than one for the medical professionals.

As a result, the previous governor of Anambra promised to fully back the administration’s proposal to turn the school into a university.
With a 55-year life expectancy, we have undoubtedly gotten worse. As a result, we need to invest in health, with our children being the most crucial group to target.
The nurse is the most significant individual in the hospital and the one closest to a patient. Therefore, we believe that investing in nurses and nursing students alike is essential,” he stated.
The Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji, the Catholic Archbishop of the Owerri Diocese, praised Obi for his visit and ongoing assistance in a speech.
According to Ugorji, the projected institution would launch from the campus.
“A detribalized, proper citizen and role model with character, competence, capacity, and simplicity,” was how he characterised Obi.
