Erik ten Hag has revealed two players who will play a pivotal role in improving Manchester United’s overall performance. Learn who they are and their expected impact.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag stated that the team’s performances will get better once left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia are fit again.
Ten Hag is facing increased scrutiny at United after last weekend’s 3-0 loss to Tottenham and Thursday’s 3-3 draw with Porto.
Shaw has been sidelined this season with a calf problem, while Malacia hasn’t played since the summer of 2023 owing to a knee injury.

Ten Hag has previously mentioned that he does not anticipate either of them returning before the international break in October.
When questioned about Diogo Dalot’s temporary position as left-back, Ten Hag explained to reporters, “Why put Dalot at left back? At this moment, I prefer the patterns he offers over Noussair Mazraoui. Both are naturally right full-backs.”
“We’ve had a persistent personnel issue in that area for quite some time. Our team will improve with the addition of a consistent left-footed, left full-back. The return of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia to the squad will undoubtedly enhance our performance consistency.”
