Israel warns Erdogan, indicating that his current trajectory could result in an outcome similar to Saddam Hussein’s.

The Israeli Foreign Minister, Israel Katz has cautioned Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan that if he tries to interfere in the Gaza conflict, he could meet a fate similar to former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein who was brought down and executed by an alliance supported by the US.

On Sunday, Erdogan engaged in a war of words with Israeli officials regarding the IDF’s current military operation in Gaza and heightened tensions with Hezbollah, an armed group based in Lebanon. During a rally held in his hometown Rize, Erdogan proposed that Turkey could intervene on behalf of Palestinians by possibly entering Israel.

Erdogan stated that it is imperative for us to remain resilient in order to prevent Israel from committing absurdities towards Palestine. Previously, he has criticized Israel’s conduct in Gaza as similar to Nazi Germany and compared Benjamin Netanyahu, the Israeli Prime Minister with Adolf Hitler.

On X (previously known as Twitter), Katz issued a cautionary statement of his own. He asserted that Erdogan is following in Saddam Hussein’s footsteps and putting forward the prospect of assaulting Israel, reminding the Turkish leader to recall what occurred there and how it resulted.

Yair Lapid, the opposition leader of Israel, criticized Erdogan for being a potential dictator and posing as a threat to stability in the Middle East.

X received a statement from Lapid stating that it is imperative for the world, specifically NATO members, to vehemently denounce his scandalous menaces directed towards Israel and compel him to terminate his backing of Hamas.

The 2003 US-led invasion of Iraq resulted in the fall of Saddam Hussein. He managed to evade capture but was ultimately apprehended by American forces, found guilty in an Iraqi court for crimes against humanity, and put to death via hanging three years later in 2006.

During President George W. Bush’s administration, the US alleged that Iraq’s leader had ties to Al-Qaeda – an organization responsible for the 9/11 terrorist acts- and was in possession of weapons of mass destruction. However, subsequent investigations discovered both claims were untrue; even so, Washington utilized them as justification for initiating military action against Iraq while failing to receive UN Security Council clearance beforehand.
