EPL: Record of John Mikel Obi broken by Iwobi

Alex Iwobi, the Fulham midfielder, has broken the record for the most minutes played by a Nigerian player in the Premier League.

This achievement came after he completed a full 90 minutes in Fulham’s recent 1-0 loss to Newcastle United at home.

Iwobi’s total minutes played now stand at an impressive 16,289, surpassing the previous record of 16,218 held by former Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi.

Prior to his time at Fulham, the 27-year-old had spells at Arsenal and Everton.

Throughout the current season, Iwobi has showcased his versatility by scoring five goals in 25 league appearances for Fulham.

His move to Craven Cottage from Everton took place last summer under the management of Marco Silva.
