Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, highlighted the impact of his substitutions in their 3-1 victory over Sheffield United on Thursday night.
In the second half, Klopp made the decision to take off Mohamed Salah, their star player, and made two more alterations by replacing Dominik Szoboszlai and Joe Gomez with Curtis Jones and Cody Gakpo.
At that point in the match, Conor Bradley’s own goal had canceled out Darwin Nunez’s opener. Klopp then opted for a double change, bringing off Salah and Ryan Gravenberch for Harvey Elliott and Andy Robertson.
With 13 minutes remaining, the Reds regained the lead through a stunning effort from Alexis Mac Allister from 25 yards, and Gakpo sealed the victory late on.
