Following a significant financial loss of £90.1 million in 2023, the club is under pressure to ensure compliance with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
To meet these regulations, Chelsea is looking to sell academy players, such as Conor Gallagher and Ian Maatsen, as their transfers would result in pure profit.
Surprisingly, reports suggest that Reece James is now also being considered for sale, with the club aiming to secure a substantial fee of over £60 million for the talented right-back.
Despite James’ importance as one of Chelsea’s key players and their captain, the club’s management views him as expendable in the current financial climate, where maximizing returns is crucial to addressing the club’s financial challenges.
