EPL: Injury setback for Chelsea ahead of Bournemouth match

Prior to their away Premier League match against Bournemouth on Sunday, October 17, Chelsea have been dealt a setback due to an injury.

After sustaining an ankle injury in practise last week, Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia will be out for at least six weeks.

Lavia is becoming acclimated to life under manager Mauricio Pochettino by working on his fitness at Chelsea’s practise facility (Cobham).

A recent injury caused a further delay in his introduction to Pochettino’s squad.

The Mail claims that the Belgian underwent tests that showed ligament damage.

However, there are worries the player won’t be available for at least a month and a half even though Chelsea is yet to determine the seriousness of Lavia’s issue.

When Chelsea resumes play on October 21 against London rival Arsenal in the Premier League, that timetable might prevent him from returning until after next month’s international break.

Lavia might be sidelined for Chelsea’s games against Bournemouth, Aston Villa, Fulham, and Burnley in the interim, in addition to the matchup with Brentford in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

In August, Lavia moved to Chelsea from Southampton for £58 million.

The 19-year-old is still waiting to make his Blues debut, though.
